Information was to be given "as of" 1 March.

Although this description of the First Ward seems to come from the late 1890s, it is likely similar to 1905 as well:

"The First ward comprised all that portion of the city of Kansas City, Kansas, lying east of the Kansas river.  First precinct:  All that portion of the First ward lying south of the center line of the extension of Kansas avenue east of the Kansas river, including the localities known as Toad-a-Loup and Greystone Heights."

— (History of Wyandotte County Kansas and its people; Perl W. Morgan, editor;
Chicago, The Lewis Publishing Company, 1911.)

No street address is provided, but they were the 55th house enumerated in this precinct.
Family memory (from George Dobson's grandson, Billy Eugene Wagner) recalls the home was at 55 Graystone Heights.
The dwelling was owned, not rented, and five people were living there:

•  George Dobson Beck, age 56 (= born 10 Apr 1849), born "high seas" (aboard the sailing ship EMBLEM), came to Kansas from Missouri, a cattle-shipper;
•  Sallie (Sarah, Sally) (King) Beck, age 41 (= born 15 Mar 1864), born in Missouri, came to Kansas from Missouri, a housekeeper;
•  Lula Belle Beck, age 24 (= born 30 May 1881), born in Texas, came to Kansas from Missouri, a waitress;

NOTE:  Lula Belle had married Ray Hayes in 1902, but they separated after the birth of their only child, Joseph A. Hayes, and she returned to her parents' home.
Question:  Why isn't Joseph listed here?

•  Annie (Anna) Beck, age 19 (= born 25 Jan 1886), born in Texas, came to Kansas from Missouri, no occupation listed;

NOTE:  Anna had married Eugene Moore in 1904.  Either he was away due to his work on the railroad, or she had temporarily separated from him and returned to her parents' home.

•  Edna (Edna Estelle), age 6 (= born 18 Jun 1898), born in Missouri, came to Kansas from Missouri.

This is a 3-page composite photocopy;
     page 4 of the original is blank for the Becks, so is omitted.
Half way down the second page, the enumerator erred when moving
across from page 1, so this presentation realigns page 2.
The error occurred at lines 16 / 17.  Note the handwritten corrections
on the original from that point on.
