On this map of Cuyahoga County, Bedford Village is in red.  Bedford Township was set up in 1797, at least on paper, as Connecticut tried to bolster its quickly-fading claim to territories in Ohio, its so-called "Western Reserve."  The Washington Administration insisted, Connecticut finally gave in, and in 1803 Ohio became the 17th state.

Sometime after 1920, Hadsell Alden took his family back to Ohio, his native state.  They settled at 451 Broadway in Bedford Village. Ohio.Ohio.  However, at some point before early 1937 they had returned again to the Kansas City area, where wife Maude Mattie (McNay) Mills developed pneumonia and died (March 1937).

This 1928 city directory lists Hadsell as a Hlpr, although we do not know what he was helping AT, or who he was helping OUT.  Broadway was, however, a major thoroughfare and business zone.
